José Naranja – a travelling artist finds greatness everywhere!
Instagram, note apps, blogs— all the cool kids are using tech to document their travels. But what about keeping it old-school? Give those thumbs a rest and jot down your travel experiences along the way using notebooks (and yes, with an actual pen!)
For José Naranja, a Moleskine notebook isn’t just a handy tool for everyday carry, but a perfect way to document his daily experiences and create beautiful artworks. Teeming with colourful calligraphy, diagrams, and sketches, José’s sketchbooks are incredibly detailed and intimate. He crafts his personal reflections and ponderings in form of elegant, hand-penned words and illustrations around pieces of travel ephemera like stamps, detailed botanical studies, and map routes. José describes his work as “a vault of dreams, ideas and experiences.”
José also sells copies of his best work in a compilation called “The Orange Manuscript”. They are an elaborate, multilingual exploration of the writer/artist’s mind and observations and you can find them on his website. You can see up-to-date sketches and follow his travels on his Instagram.
