Habitual Coffee: Habit-forming in Chino Roces
Harnessing the various flavors of the world into cups of specialized joe, Habitual Coffee slowly warms up its surrounding community with coffee that is rich in flavor, as it is in substance.
It started with an ordinary trio of college friends with the same passion for coffee. They have travelled all over the globe in search of the perfect brew. Greatly inspired from Blue Bottle Coffee, a coffee roaster and retailer based in California, they pursued with their own dream. They started with a squad of three baristas in a small, pop up shop in Ortigas and today, they have expanded to a dream team of twelve and transferred to a much larger space at Chino Roces ave, Makati City.
The café exudes a relaxing vibe with its minimalist interiors, wooden tables, black metal frames, and gray concrete walls – a perfect place for contemplation while being serenely caffeinated. One should not be fooled with the simplicity of its ambiance though, as the people behind the espresso bar take their craft very seriously. These people continuously develop a deeper understanding of their product which is well reflected on every cup they serve.
The management puts high value in training their people—from the actual picking of coffee cherries to perfecting the intricacies of the latte art.
Habitual Coffee is also one with the advocacy to support and promote local brands which is why they get most of their beans from various local suppliers and name it after the place of its harvest. Being in the aeropress and specialized coffee industry for a little more than two years, they have already secured an array of titles under their belts— 1st Place, 2015 Philippine Aeropress Competition; 3rd Place, 2015 World Aeropress Competition; and 2nd Place, 2016 Philippine Aeropress Competition —and they are just getting started.
You can be a coffee connoisseur or an occasional coffee drinker, but one cannot deny that it’s just a matter of time before Habitual Coffee turns into a habit that would be too good to break.
