Brewing inspiration in Manila: D’ Cup Coffee Republic in Mandaluyong
OK first things first—a day does not start until the first cup. However, in the age where coffee shops mushroom from one corner to another, a cup of joe is not anymore enough. To ace the coffee game, cafes must realize that an investment in advocacy plays a role in a consumer’s choice.
Coffee lovers are wiser now. They don’t just crave for caffeine; they now crave for value, the story behind every cup, and the efforts of the establishment to spark stories over coffee. Most of the time, this sets the bar for their return visits.
Lucky for us though, we found D’ Cup Coffee Republic, an artisan-themed book café and event venue that has long adapted this kind of approach.
“It took us 4 years of brewing time from concept in 2012 to establishment of D’ Cup Coffee Republic in November 2016.”, shared Adette Purto, the present Chairman of the Board and CEO of D’ Cup.
“The business model is an original concept of the company. It all started with a desire to provide a place of refuge for tired and weary market place people. The birthing of the business took its place when I started training young professionals in the world of business and entrepreneurship over a cup of coffee.”
That’s how D’ Cup started and how it still survives to date—with a vision to inspire people through every cup and transform lives through self-enhancing workshops, trainings, and other activities.
In fact, their café is designed to promote this vision. With a spacious dining area that can accommodate big groups for bonding, meeting, and fellowship, as well as a function hall for social gatherings, corporate events, talks, and exhibits, they aim to encourage engagement. They also have a library area where books are available for free reading. Don’t cringe though, if I tell you that they don’t have WiFi and outlet for electrical charging as commonly offered by other dining establishments. Instead, the café advocates going back to the basic of reading books and nurturing relationships through personal communication.
“Engagement and connections are vital. Everything in the coffee shop is made conducive to support that. Because it’s part of our belief once and for all that through sharing of ideas, maybe over a coffee or two, you can start inspiring people.”
Join Community Nights @ D’ Cup from Tuesday to Friday at 7:30PM and be inspired with their talks, workshops, and worship nights. Admission is free!
D’ Cup Coffee Republic is located at the 2nd floor of Pioneer St. Market inside HMR Parking Compound, across TV5 along Reliance Street, Mandaluyong City.
